Lancaster Historical Postgraduate Conference 2026 - Get involved!
LHPC is back this year with the theme Legacy and Lens, a consideration of how the past shapes the present and future. The conference will be held at Lancaster University from 24th-26th June 2026.
When asked about this year's conference, a spokesperson for LHPC said: 'This year’s event continues a tradition of excellence in historical research welcoming international and domestic scholars in history and related disciplines to share their research into how history has shaped our everyday experiences and how its study remains vital to understanding the world around us.'
'We welcome papers from historians as well as humanities scholars whose research intersects with history, ensuring that interdisciplinarity remains at the heart of LHPC’s mission. In these politically turbulent times, it is more important than ever to come together, share ideas and break down boundaries, allowing for dialogue and fostering a free exchange of ideas.'
The conference welcomes individual paper abstracts of up to 300 words or panel submissions with a word count of 500 words, providing they express a clear and coherent theme. The deadline for both individual and panel submissions is 28th of March 2026.
The conference will consist of two full days of talks on the 25th and 26th of June, with a keynote and welcome address at Lancaster Castle on the afternoon of Wednesday 24th. For more details on submissions, any interested parties should contact the organising committee at [email protected]. The organising committee looks forward to welcoming you to LHPC – possibly the finest postgraduate historical conference in the North West.
