Style Advice: The best bags on a budget

If there is only one accessory that you should be thinking of buying this year, it's the all-important day bag. This season they’re roomy and oversized, meaning that there's plenty of room to cram in textbooks, iPads and snacks to keep you sane during dreaded Thursday morning lectures. Whether you want a splash of colour, or prefer to stay safe with neutral and black, you're guaranteed to find a bag that you'll be proud to use beyond Autumn/Winter 2013.

Here at SCAN, we understand the stress of shopping on a student budget. Unfortunately, the three or four years that you'll be living on a student loan means that we can't splash out for the latest Mulberry bag (even if it is the most beautiful creation ever to step off the runway), and instead we have to hunt for bargains on the high street.

As there's so much choice, we've decided to do the hard work for you and pick out our top five day bags that won't break the bank but will still give you a statement bag to use all-year round.
