University Deanery in email gaffe

Just before 3PM on Friday, Week 4, the entire undergraduate cohort of Lancaster University received a disciplinary hearing email.

The email, sent by Deputy Dean Andrew Lucas, provided not only the name and college of the student concerned, but also details of the student's alleged offences in an attached letter. These include four separate alleged breaches of University rules.

Shortly after this, Mr Lucas emailed again, asking all students to delete the previous email.

Students were quick to respond to this email, with a post discussing the matter appearing on the Facebook group 'Overheard at Lancaster' minutes after the email had been sent. A support group has also been set up for the student involved, with many promising to attend the disciplinary hearing.
